High Speed Internet Access (HSIA) was the first area to be tackled by Net Retriever™ due to the high demand by almost every hotel, motel and resort to offer this service to their guests. This market driven demand for HSIA spawned an overnight boom in Internet Access Controller (IAC) manufacturers and an even larger number of IT companies lining up to supply HSIA to every site not yet signed up.

But in their rush, most IAC manufacturers either a) had no Property Management System (PMS) output, b) adopted a basic format (usually a Micros Fidelio™ derivative with limited data and authentication information relating to HSIA), or c) created their own proprietary PMS protocol (that would need a new interface written by every PMS they tried to connect to).

There are many IAC’s that would benefit, or are already benefiting from becoming Net Retriever™ compatible (see our Partners page). The NR-IAC module is the ideal way for these IAC’s to communicate with the sites’ PMS. By allowing Net Retriever™ to handle the communications between hardware and software they are no longer restricting themselves to proprietary protocols and negotiating/maintaining multiple interfaces with many PMS.
